1. Overview
SmartChef ("the App") is developed by 1hoorn.eu. We take your privacy seriously. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
2. Data We Collect
- Recipes and meal plans — stored locally on your device and optionally synced via your personal iCloud account.
- AI usage metrics — anonymized counts of AI requests (number of tokens used) sent to our server for billing and service monitoring. No recipe content is stored server-side.
- Photos — only accessed when you explicitly choose to add a photo. Photos are stored on-device and in iCloud only.
3. AI Processing
When you use AI features (recipe import, generation, restaurant analysis), your text or image is sent to Anthropic's Claude API via a secure proxy. Anthropic's privacy policy applies to this processing. We do not store the content of your AI requests on our servers.
4. iCloud Sync
If you enable iCloud sync, your recipes are stored in your personal iCloud account under your Apple ID. Apple's privacy policy governs this storage. We have no access to your iCloud data.
5. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Data is only shared with:
- Anthropic (for AI processing, see Section 3)
- Apple (for iCloud sync and App Store, see Section 4)
6. Data Retention
All recipe data lives on your device and iCloud. Anonymized usage metrics are retained for up to 12 months. You can delete the app at any time to remove all local data.
7. Your Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, or delete your data. Contact us at the address below.
