How do I import a recipe from a website?

Open the app, tap the camera/+ button, choose 'Import from website', and paste or type the URL. SmartChef will extract the recipe automatically.

How does AI recipe generation work?

Tap 'Generate recipe with AI', describe your dish (e.g. 'creamy mushroom risotto for 4'), and SmartChef will create a full recipe using Claude AI.

Where are my recipes stored?

Recipes are stored locally on your device. If you enable iCloud sync in Settings, they also sync across your other Apple devices via your personal iCloud account.

The app asks for an API key — what is that?

SmartChef uses Claude AI for recipe processing. The app comes pre-configured with a shared API key. You can also enter your own Anthropic API key in Settings for dedicated usage.

How do I add a photo to a recipe?

Open a recipe, tap the + button on the photo area, and choose from your library, a file, or paste from clipboard.

Can I use SmartChef offline?

Yes — all your saved recipes are available offline. AI features (import, generation) require an internet connection.
